Tuscany I Balzini Red Label (S, Cs, M) 2009 Supertuscan

Youthful ruby light purple in the hue, spicy and fruity on the nose with leather, cherry and vanilla. Medium body, medium high acidity, medium alcohol, good perceived tannin.

The alcohol combined with a good acidity and a little bit green tannin on the final typical of Sangiovese grape points to a Supertuscan. The Cabernet sauvignon is more important at the nose for the varietal aroma.

The French oak with the good balance of it use suggest a medium high quality wine from a recent vintage, not very hot like 2008. Ready to drink, it could be awaited for ten years but no more with this green tannin.

Guida Michelin 2012

Chablis 2010 Brocard

Pale yellow with a floreal nose and crisp palate. Low medium body, high acidity and low alcohol. Quite good fruity lenght.
Colour and texture point to classic region wine, the acidity to Italy or France . The texture soft and the a lemon and low stone notes suggest a Chablis even the absence of wood to a youth simple one.

Marlborough New Zealand Sauvignon blanc Montana

A pale colour with light green impression, aromatic on the nose like white rose, melon and tomato leaf. Dry, with crisp acidity and balanced in alcohol (13%), no wood, no Mlf.

Colour and acidity suggest a young wine, aromas who is a sauvignon blanc. In Alto Adige it couldnt'be so fruity, in France couldnt't be so ripe on the nose with this high acidity. So it could be a sb from a warm climate of new world like New Zealand.

The quality is fine for a medium wine around 10 euros. It's ready to drink with 5 years in front.

Marlborough Wither Hills Wairau valley pinot noir 2008

A bright ruby with intense strawberry and cappuccino, supple and pretty persistent.

The colour is a typical from pn. The wood is sweet like a French oak from the first impression and so obtrusive to suggest with the fruity nose and high alcohol (14%) a new world wine.

The balance and the finesse point to New Zealand (will be a Marlborough from silty alluvial loams over depp stony river deposits, in the heart of central Wairau Valley).

The wine is a 2008, now on his peaking and with few years more to drink.

Clare Valley shiraz McRae Wood 2005

A deep youth ruby with intense fruity nose, good forward acidity and developed aftertaste.

A ripe raspberry aroma immediatly after the bottle opening could be suggest a merlot, but the maturity of the fruit in aftertaste combined with the american oak notes of red pepper and the acidity at the beginning points to an australian shiraz.

The aftertaste suggest also the age of the wine (2005) wich at the colour could be younger. The texture and the balance indicates a good wooden quality wines, salty impression suggest near the seaside.

Cortona Syrah Podere Il Castagno 2008

A deep ruby, with a smoothy palate, natural acidity and toasted aftertaste.

The spice nose points to the old world, the green pepper indicates a syrah variety and a hot bluberry fruit suggest a warm climate like Tuscany, but the maturation is correct for 2008.

The variety is clear even for a soft impact forward, followed by rounded tannins. The balance and a polite use of the wood (not only new french oak) points to a good quality wine.

The price could be around 20 euros minimum.

Montefalco Sagrantino Antano 2007

Dark ruby with wild blackberry intense aroma and large crispy tannin on the palate shows a good aftertaste.

The high muscolar tannins suggests a Sagrantino grape from the center of Italy. The texture which is balanced yet, points to a good one and the brigthness of the colour suggests a classic old style wine oaked in barrels.

The high alcohol 15% which is mildly perceived and a moderate acidity supports the idea of a quality wines and indicates a developed warm vintage, like 2007.

Cahors malbec Chateau Chambert 2008

Cahors malbec Chateau Chambert 2008. A purple racy ruby with a high acidity forward and a floury tannin, bit foxy at the end, could seem more youthful for 2008.

The cherry aroma matched to crispy (and floury) tannins points to a Malbec variety, while the freshness suggests a cold classic european region, like Cahors, midi Pirenee.

The hint of vanilla brings forward to a oaked wine which with the medium body and 10 euros price around, place yourself in a good range of wine for eating.
